How therapy works for teen boys
Many teen boys have been taught to handle things alone, so they arrive expecting a lecture. Sessions start with situations and reactions rather than emotion labels, which lowers the barrier. Over time your son builds language for what he feels, more choices in how he responds, and a way to be honest at home without it turning into a fight.
Where parents fit in
Your teen needs a private place to speak, and you need to know therapy is going somewhere. At the start we explain confidentiality, consent, and treatment goals so everyone knows what is shared and what stays between your teen and their therapist. Parents receive guidance on responding to shutdowns and outbursts, setting limits that hold, and repairing after conflict.
Areas we serve
All sessions are virtual and available to teens physically located in Texas, Colorado, or Missouri, with a parent or guardian consenting to care. In Texas that includes Houston and the surrounding metro, Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Pearland, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio; in Colorado, Denver, Colorado Springs, Boulder, Aurora, and Fort Collins; in Missouri, St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, and Columbia. In-person services are coming in 2027.
Why virtual works well for teenagers
Teens are comfortable on video, sessions fit around school and practice, and there is no drive across Houston traffic after a long day. Attendance tends to be more consistent, and many teens open up faster from a space that already feels like theirs.

Questions people ask
- What ages do you work with?
- We work with adolescents, generally ages 13 through 17, and with young adults. Call the office if your child is younger and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
- How do I know if my teen needs therapy or is just being a teenager?
- Look at duration and impact. Moodiness that passes is normal. Changes that last more than a few weeks and affect school, sleep, friendships, or family life are worth a consultation.
- My son refuses to go. What do I do?
- Frame it as one conversation rather than a commitment, let him have a say in scheduling, and avoid presenting it as punishment. Most teens who resist the first session return willingly after it.
- Do you offer therapy for teen boys specifically?
- Yes. Teen boys are a core focus of our practice, especially around anger, shutdown, school pressure, and confidence.
- Is teen therapy confidential from parents?
- Your teen needs privacy to be honest, so session content is generally kept between the teen and therapist, with exceptions for safety concerns. We explain exactly how this works at intake.
- Will I be updated on my teen's progress?
- Yes. Parents receive updates on themes, goals, and progress, and are given practical guidance at home, without transcripts of what your teen said.
- Do you meet with parents too?
- Yes. Parent sessions or check-ins are a normal part of the work when they support your teen's goals.
- Are sessions online or in person?
- All sessions are currently virtual for teens located in Texas, Colorado, or Missouri. In-person services are coming in 2027.
- Does virtual therapy actually work for teenagers?
- Yes. Research supports virtual therapy as effective, and teens are often more comfortable and more consistent on video than in an office.
- How much does teen therapy cost?
- Sessions are $175 – $200. We are a fee-for-service practice and provide superbills on request for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
- Do you take insurance?
- We do not participate with insurance panels. Clear, upfront pricing means care is guided by your teen's needs rather than insurance requirements, and superbills are available.
- How long will my teen be in therapy?
- Some teens do focused, short-term work over a few months. Others stay longer. Goals and progress are reviewed with you along the way.
- Can therapy help with anger and outbursts?
- Yes. Chronic anger usually sits on top of stress, hurt, fear, or unmet needs. We work on what is underneath while building practical regulation skills.
- What if my teen has anxiety about school?
- School anxiety, test pressure, and performance perfectionism are among the most common reasons families reach out. We address both the thinking patterns and the daily routines around them.
- How do we get started?
- Use the Start Here page or call 713-819-2660. A parent or guardian completes consent, then we match your teen with the right clinician.
You don't have to carry it all alone.
We see you. We hear you. We honor your story. Together, we evolve.
